The ISS Group focuses specifically on providing electronic security solutions for the commercial and industrial markets, working in and with mining, marine mining, marine, commercial, industrial and retail institutions and companies.

Generic Solutions

Over the years it has become apparent to us that there are problems in certain industries that occur on a continuous basis. Having identified some of these problems, ISS set out to source and develop technology-based solutions that eradicate them. This has led to the development of a range of products that we market to specific industries as shelf items. Some of these products were specifically developed with strategic partners, while in other cases ISS utilises a distribution agreement with the relevant equipment manufacturers.

Customised Solutions

As a result of our extensive experience in consulting on a wide range of products, it’s become apparent to us that most clients require a security solution that is specifically tailored to address the unique challenges they face. Commonly available “off the shelf” strategies lack the nuances and detail to comprehensively respond to these businesses’ characteristic risk profiles.

By utilising a network of varied resources, ISS is able to implement business-specific solutions by relying on expert knowledge in a wide array of relevant fields.

What differentiates us in the development of customised solutions is our phased approach:

 

  • Creating a Common Vision

During this phase a plan of possibilities is compiled by analysing the business and technical requirements of the client.  At the end of this phase a common vision is documented as basis for compiling a functional specification.

 

  • The Functional Requirement Specification Phase

Once the business requirements for a project have been agreed upon, the functional specification phase commences.  This is the phase where all the functional specifications of the project are detailed.  This involves a combination of workshop type discussions and presentations of drawings, software customisation and user interfaces, etc. to the client.  This is an interactive process facilitated by ISS, working closely with the client.

 

Until this phase, only budgetary costs will have been presented for the development component of the project.  Once this phase is completed, the costs for development and installation will be fixed as all the detail, complexity and scope of the development will be known.

 

  • Planning

During this phase a project plan is compiled for the initial sub-phases of the project.  The technical aspects of the project are scoped and analysed.  At the end of this phase detailed costing will be given for future phases.

 

  • Development

This phase includes developing the various components of the solution from a technical perspective.  During this phase the project will be reviewed at regular meetings with progress reports.

 

  • Execution and Testing

All components are installed and quality assurance of all aspects occurs at this stage. Commissioning of the system will then take place. During this phase all components of the proposed solutions are tested and verified.

After the system has been installed and operational to the client’s satisfaction, the solution will be handed over to the client.  At this meeting, signoff by key stakeholders will be required.

 

  • Project Management

Professional project managers manage all projects.  All aspects of the project management exercise are monitored using sound project management principles and the latest project management software, which is used as a tool to ensure delivery on time and within budget.
